Founded in 2008 by directors Matt and Jim, H18 rapidly became known for its uncompromising focus on quality design coupled with standards-based programming. The business now enjoys a reputation for building great brands backed by robust, reliable and great looking websites.
Our design studio is conveniently situated in the picturesque village of Newport in Essex, easily accessible by train from all major UK locations. Our team comprises our core, in-house team (currently 4 full-time staff members) and a solid, established network of designers and developers, all of whom have the qualities and the experience to take care of just about every technical or design service your business is ever likely to require.

We're often asked how the name "H18" came about. Founding Directors Matt Cooper and Jim Rayfield both liked the idea of naming the business after our favourite heavy metal track, "Hangar 18", by legendary band Megadeth. We also liked the fact that Hangar 18, Area 51 is supposedly home to all the secrets concerning artifacts manufactured by super-intelligent aliens... Sounds a bit like our office, in fact - there are always incredibly other-wordly happenings there as we create work for our clients!
As it transpired, Hangar 18 became the name of our sister company involved in design for the music business, and the softer H18 flavour was born. Since then we've used the word "Focus" for the client care service we offer because we believe it embodies the nature of the service we provide.
