Q: So, what can our clients expect from us?

A: Why, the H18 Treatment of course! Here's how we like to do things...

We came up with the H18 treatment cycle last spring when we'd completed a number of fairly large projects and fallen into a tangible rhythm that was really helping us to get results. We know that if we can establish the same kind of rhythm with each and every client we can reliably achieve great results really efficiently, every time. This is one of the keystones of the H18 treatment, and something we're pretty strict about implementing.

How we work diagram

1. Meet

Once we have received your initial enquiry we will set up a meeting during which we can discuss the project and its objectives in more detail with you. During this time we can answer any questions you may have, gain a greater understanding of your business's needs and give you guidance and advice on the best way to proceed.

2. Define

Now we have met you and discussed your project in some detail we set about creating a project specification document. This document will outline and define all work to be undertaken by us, project milestones, timescales and, importantly, how much you should budget for the work.

Once this been agreed and signed off we are ready to start the design phase.

3. Design

Every design phase starts with brainstorming, with the outcome being a mood board (a collection of ideas that include such things as layout, colour, typography and imagery) either on paper or as a PDF. This stage can also form part of the meeting phase depending on prior project information received.

For web-based projects we then set about defining the sites information architecture, creating a static mock of the site's pages in Photoshop. Only when the design has been approved and signed off can we move onto the next stage, and any reworking of the design must be done at this time as changing elements in Photoshop is very easy at this stage rather than at the development stage.

Print work is also completed on the approved/sign off basis.

4. Develop

This stage involves building the site template and then the inner pages. Depending on the platform and software solution chosen for the project (CubeCart, CakePHP, Trinity etc), we will set up a local development site that allows us to build your project on our office web server. Once the project is at a stage where we're ready to either show you the finished article (where we've agreed to supply or add supplied content) or for you to add your content yourself, we put the website onto a temporary "staging" domain that is accessible from any computer with an internet connection.

Once your site is on its staging domain we issue a final invoice and are on-hand to show you how to use the back-end admin software where appropriate/required. Once you're happy with the content and images we're ready to deploy to the live server!

5. Deploy

Finally your work is ready to go live - we never launch without the nod from you and we always run a complete check over the site to make sure there are no problems. In the flick of a switch the whole world can see your website!

Once your website is deployed this is not the end of our relationship - we offer a wide range of aftercare services and support.

6. Aftercare

We take care of our clients. Our Focus maintenance package (see Focus) is the most popular choice - we take care of your site as if it were our own, helping you to climb the Google rankings, keep on top of your analytics and to keep your content current.

Welcome to the machine!

What you can expect when you work with us

It's hugely important to be clear about the way we provide our services so that all parties know exactly what they should expect during a project's life cycle. We have set methods of working that we've honed during our careers in order to be as efficient as possible, meaning that you ultimately save money by not paying for unnecessary project overrun, design overhead or codebase bloat.

The wheel on the left will help you navigate to information about the various project stages - each very simple indeed, but also very effective and is, in the end, designed with you in mind.

Client Testimonials

Words from happy customers

Before deciding on a company to redevelop my existing basic Green Jelly webshop I contacted quite a few web developers and designers in the local area and further afield. When talking to H18 it became immediately obvious that they clearly understood what I wished to achieve where other companies had missed the point. As I was looking for new branding, H18’s ability to provide design for both online and offline materials was a distinct advantage.

H18’s initial suggestions for the look and feel of site were excellent and helped in deciding on the boutique style of the shop. I have been really impressed at how Jim has taken the graphic design from a few basic concept ideas into a fantastic logo (which has received lots of positive comments) and brand identity which is reflected across the webshop and in printed materials. Matt on the technical side looked at Green Jelly’s specific requirements and developed the CubeCart application to meet the additional needs of the site, increasing the features available and making it more flexible.

The result of H18's work is a professional e-commerce website which has far exceeded my expectations. The standard of work at H18 is excellent and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a new website or graphic design company.

I work in the creative industry producing videos for all different clients. My main concern for a website was making sure it represented what my company is about. It needed to give of an energy and a wave of creativeness! On the internet, people do judge you on your 'front cover' and I needed a company to produce a website that would do this for me.

H18 were just the company, I stumbled across them by accident but after calling them I knew they were for me. They understand exactly what their customers need, they listen and suggest relevant ideas and work with you to produce what you want. But then they surprise you by completing your project to a much higher standard than anticipated!

I would highly recommend H18 to anyone seeking a new website and am positive they could create something for everyone from simple to complex, they are efficient, quick, responsive and great to get on with.

H18 is the talented team behind the Hopscotch Kids e-commerce website. They ensured that the online shop reflected the look and feel of my children's boutique by researching the market, visiting my shop and asking about my style. I have been very impressed with the excellent service, quality and professionalism. I met with several other designers and H18's design ideas and development skills are definitely ahead of the competition.

Both Matt and Jim are extremely creative and were fantastically knowledgeable about what was achievable. They were also friendly, approachable and had lots of patience! The team worked extremely hard to ensure the finished site was exactly what I wanted. They are passionate about good design, amazing service and outstanding quality.

I have already recommended H18 to other businesses and am confident that others will be equally impressed!
