Standards-based web application development
OK, this is the tecchie bit - deep breath! We employ many technologies to produce client work and to manage their domains. All server-side development work implements the LAMP* stack and employs standards-based object-oriented programming techniques that adhere strictly to the most commonly-accepted application architecture paradigms.
All client-side work implements WAI-compliant coding, ensures cross-browser compatibilty and usability. For front-end interactivity we employ the jQuery Javascript framework that allows us to "make web pages do cool stuff" very easily. For example, concertina menus and slideshows (check out our own in our portfolio).
Matt spends a lot of his time with a "scary black screen" in front of him (as any of you who have visited the office will have seen) issuing raw Unix instructions on the command line interface. He's dead happy creating BASH scripts and doing the things that leave some web-folk feeling a bit faint.
Simply put this all means that everything we develop here at H18 is guaranteed to be stable, secure and completely portable. Over the years we have developed conventions of working that ultimately mean we get more done in less time, and this saves you money.
